Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #024
Hello
fans and welcome back to another installment of the Mid-Pacific Promotions
Newsletter – MPP is a proud member of the SPW Alliance and our goal is to bring
you all the best action professional wrestling has to offer. We actually took a 4 week absence due to some
behind the scenes transactions that were taking place.
Our
show begins with owners Dave Millican and Reggie Parks. Dave issues congratulations to the NEW SPW
World Champion the Ultimate Warrior.
Warrior defeated the great Verne Gagne and I’m sure that these two will
meet again someday. King Damien Sandow
also “cashed” in his opportunity and came a countout away from defeating the
Ultimate Warrior for that same belt.
Sandow is not one to be taken lightly after this.
Speaking
of the King, Sandow received a challenge from GCW’s King – Jerry Lawler. Sandow has accepted and if he loses, he will
have to carry Lawler’s bags around and cannot call himself “King” but (lower
case) “king of the ring” moving forward.
However, if Lawler loses, he’ll show up here carrying Sandow’s bags and
very possibly could be a championship lighter.
The one great thing about the SPW Alliance is that the talent can cross
promotions and interact with other territories (Sandow in GCW, Liger in IWA,
etc). GCW and MPP have agreed that if
Sandow wins, he will be temporarily moved to that roster and GCW can send a
member of their own (if they so choose) to MPP.
Next,
they discuss the slimming of the roster with the departures of Edge, Christian,
Muhammed Hassan and (walking out) Gino Hernandez. Reggie says Gino is a great talent and looks
like he’s not going to have any issue making a name for himself wherever he goes. This leaves two vacancies on the roster that
will be filled at a later time.
Bray
Wyatt may have lost the SPW US title to Ricky Steamboat but he is the MPP
Pacific Heritage Champion. Bray (SPOILER
ALERT – highlight if you want to read it) laughed after reading that Steamboat lost
the championship in his first title defense to the Russian Alexis Smirnoff. Bray says that if it was him in that match,
he’d still be champion.
At
our inaugural PPV the Cutting Edge, our MPP tag team champions Samoa Joe and
Yokozuna were attacked by the New Zealand Sheepherders – Crazy Luke Williams
and Maniac Butch Miller. The
Sheepherders have promised more bloodshed if they don’t get a title match.
Our
first match kicks off today’s show and ‘The’ Brian Kendrick (aka Spanky) makes
his way down to the ring. When the
reaction from the crowd isn’t what he wanted, he gets mad and starts to yell at
the fans. Next, Sensational Sherri comes
out and introduces the monster UMAGA!
Umaga rushes down to the ring and begins to MAUL Spanky but he fights back
much to the surprise of…well…everyone.
He went toe to toe with the monster and Sherri decided she’d had
enough. She got on the apron distracting
the ref and as Umaga charged at Brian, he moved ever so slightly and Umaga
almost crashed into the ref and Sherri.
He turned around and Brian hit him with the Sliced Bread #2. He made the cover and got the 3 count. Spanky wins the match!. Sherri is LIVID. She begins screeching like a banshee and
Umaga attacks Brian again hitting him with multiple Samoan Spikes until Brian
was down and out. Umaga and Sherri stood
over Brian briefly before leaving. (8
min)
Reggie
Parks is back in his office and he says that an announcement will be
forthcoming. When pressed for details,
all he said was “Later”.
We
go back to the ring for tag team action this time. Already in the ring is Firebreaker Chip and
‘Sick Boy’ Scott Vick. Music hits and
out comes the Sheepherders – Crazy Luke Williams and Maniac Butch Miller. They immediately attack their opponents
however, just like the last match, Chip and Vick went toe to toe with the
Sheepherders. Things got dicey when Vick
got injured and appeared to be out of it leaving Chip all alone. After that, Luke trapped Chip in a camel
clutch and Chip had no choice but to tap out.
Luke, however, didn’t release the hold and continued to cinch back while
Butch put the boots to Chip’s face. It
wasn’t until the ref almost disqualified them that they relented and let him
out. The Sheepherders are HERE…no doubt
about it. Just as they are leaving, Tag
Team Champions Yokozuna and Samoa Joe rush out and attack them and they are
CHEERED. Luke and Butch take off leaving
the champs behind frustrated. (14 min
for the match; 5 for the additional segment)
The
Ascension are backstage and they say that the champs are wasting their time
chasing after the New Zealanders when the next rightful heirs to the belts are
right here. Viktor promises to decimate
their opponents and the next stop will be the titles.
We
go back to the ring for the next match and once again, it’s tag team
action. Lance Cade and Zema Ion are
already in the ring and Professor Toru Tanaka and Jumbo Tsuruta come out led by
Lucious Johnny Valiant. Valiant has been
vocal about his two guys being left out and threatened breach of contract if
they weren’t in a match tonight. Right
off the bat, Lance got injured leaving Zema to fight on his own. After 10 minutes of getting beat down, Zema
makes the hot tag to Lance who comes in only to get mowed down. Zema would make the save but would get sent
out of the ring by the ref. Finally, he
made it in but Jumbo caught him with a huge Kesagiri chop and pinned him in the
middle of the ring. Valiant joins his
team raising their arms in victory and then they all leave. (149 to 74 in 18 min)
The
World Champion Don Muraco makes his way out and says that even with him not on
the show, it still revolves around him.
He is interrupted by, flashing on the jumbo tron, “Straight Edge” and
out comes CM Punk. Punk takes a mic and
tells Muraco that he was brought in but has been stuck feuding with the
undertalent (Cena). Muraco tells him
that he’s lost to the “undertalent” and he’s not sure why he’s out here now as
he isn’t even considered a top contender.
Punk laughs and then attacks Muraco with kicks and then hurls him out of
the ring. Punk picks up the mic and asks
“How about now? Is that what it takes
here to get title shots…champs have to be attacked? If yes, consider this an attack. If you want me out of your hair…what little
you have left…put the belt on the line and let’s see who the best REALLY is.” Muraco curses as he backs up the ramp.
Dave
Millican makes his way out and says that he has a surprise like none
other. Over the loudspeakers
blares: “IF YOU SMELLLLLLLLL…WHAT THE ROCK…IS…COOKIN”
and out comes the one and only Rock.
Rock has returned!!! Rocky gets
in the ring and shakes hands with Dave before taking a mic. “FINALLY…THE ROCK…HAS COME BACK…TO
HAWAII”. He doesn’t get much else out as
his return is cut short by an attack from the Macho Man Randy Savage. Savage beats Rock down but then Rocky battles
back peppering Savage with lefts and rights and then spits into his hand before
laying the smack down on the Macho Man that sent him flying over the top
rope. Rock goes after Savage and the two
battle all the way to the back.
It’s
time for the main event. First, the
Bruise Brothers comes out and are cheered.
Next, Viktor and Konnor of the Ascension come out and are booed. They flip off the fans and just don’t
care. All 4 men brawl for a moment
before finally being separated. The
Bruise Brothers started off double teaming and controlled the pace of the match
until Konnor tossed Pork Chop out of the ring.
As he tried to get back in, Viktor ran over and hit him with the Fall of
Man. He ran back to his corner and the
ref began to count and reached 10 before Cash could get back in the ring and
was counted out. The Ascension get the
win via countout decision and they stand in the ring calling for the tag team
champions while being pelted by stuff from the crowd as the show came to an
end.
Editor’s
note: After this show aired, King Damien
had his match with King Jerry Lawler in Houston, TX and lost the match. Afterwards, Sandow left to the back and cut a
promo.
“Jerry
Lawler, KING Jerry Lawler, what can I say?
I came in with every intention of taking the crown from you but you proved
why you are the top guy, why you are the KING.
I am a man true to my word and since I lost, until the end of September,
I will carry your bags. That was the
agreement. I will still call myself king
of the ring but will not use King (capitalized) anymore. You put up a good fight. My crown, err, I mean my hat is off to you.”
