Hello
fans and welcome back to the latest installment of the Mid-Pacific Promotions
newsletter. MPP is a proud member of the
SPW Alliance and for those who have yet to sign up, you can easily subscribe
for a low monthly payment of $9.95.
Reggie
Parks comes out to start off the show and reminds us that MPP’s PPV – The
Cutting Edge will be here next Saturday and will be headlined by a defense of
the SPW World Championship. Also on
next week’s card, Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger has agreed to give former IWA North
American Champion Killer Kahn a rematch for the title that same evening. The feud between the Doctor of Thuganomics
and Mr. Straight Edge has come to a boiling point and they too get to settle
their differences. Reggie promises that
each PPV match WILL have a winner because each one with the exception of the
SPW World and IWA NA title matches will be NO DQ/NO Countout…there must be a
winner.
The
show kicks off with our first match.
Firebreaker Chip comes out first.
Next, music hits and out comes the Ultimo Dragon. Dragon celebrates with the fans as he makes
his way down to the ring. Dragon owned
the match for the first 6 minutes only allowing Chip to get in one offensive
move during that time. After that
though, Chip developed some serious resilience and hung in there with the
Cruiserweight great. Dragon pulled out
everything in his arsenal but was not able to keep Chip down for the 3
count. Finally, the bell rang bringing
this one to a 20 min draw. After the
match, Ultimo shook hands with Chip and they both left to a pop from the crowd.
Edge
calls out Christian for the attack and agrees to put the Pacific Heritage
Championship on the line if Christian puts his career on the line.
Already
in the ring for our next match is the team of Billy Pearl and Lenny Lane. Music hits and out comes the Ascension –
Viktor and Konnor. The fans boo them but
they flip them off anyway. They get into
the ring and immediately attack Pearl and Lane disposing them from the
ring. They climb the turnbuckles to
celebrate as the fans continue to go sour on them. Finally, the ref gets this one started. This one saw a little more offense from Lane
and Pearl but not enough to stop the onslaught that the Ascension heaped on
them. It surprisingly went 17 minutes
but it was Viktor hitting a spinning back elbow on Lane that brought this one
to a close.
Bullet
Club member Gino Hernandez cuts a promo saying a little bird has told him WCCW
was going to host a tournament for their Americas Title and feels he should be
included as he is the greatest wrestler in all of America. He calls out “Old Man Fritz” to make it
happen.
We
head back to the ring for our next match.
Crash Holly makes his way down to the ring powerwalking with a
purpose. Next, the leader of the Bullet
Club Finn Balor makes his way out to a huge pop from the crowd. Crash doesn’t waste any time and goes right
on the offensive hitting a flowing DDT but Balor ends up rolling with it and
straps on the High Angle Fujiwara armbar.
Crash has no idea what hit him and he taps out almost immediately. Finn Balor gets the win in only 60 seconds. Crash pouts a little in the ring and then
storms off while Finn celebrates with the fans.
Backstage,
Christian says that he will accept Edge’s terms and conditions but ONLY if Edge
agrees to put his career also on the line.
It’s
time to go back to the ring. THE Brian
Kendrick comes out first to a mixed reaction from the crowd. Mr. Fuji comes out and introduces ½ of the
World Tag Team Champions – Yokozona.
Looks like Yoko will be in singles action tonight. Kendrick put up a hell of a fight and even
connected with Sliced Bread #2 on two occasions. Fuji got tired of Kendrick’s offensive run
and hit Brian with a chop to the throat.
Gasping for air, Kendrick turned around and got caught by a belly to
belly suplex by Yokozuna. Yoko makes the
cover and gets the 1-2-3. Mr. Fuji
enters the ring and stands tall with Yokozuna while the crowd boos him. Everyone eventually leaves. (17 min)
Ultimate
Warrior cuts a promo:
“History
tells us that a man's legacy is built from the premise that within his life,
the moments lived, once lived, become a piece of his history. Somehow, you have
conveniently ‘forgotten’ to defend your title against the greatest of all
time. In the upcoming epical battle between
us, you represent the quintessential influence of what is good, great, and heroic.
But remember, and albeit you may have beaten Nature Boys, legends, giants, and
other great men, you NEVER, NEVER beat a warrior.”
It’s
time for the main event. Essa Rios comes
out first to a decent pop from the crowd.
Next, pyro goes off and out comes the SPW Cruiserweight, IWA North American,
and MPP Light Heavyweight Champion Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger. Liger comes down to the ring carrying all
three of his titles. Liger is given a
few moments to psyche up the crowd before this one gets underway. Through the first 9 minutes, Essa actually
controlled the match but after Liger got out of the way from Rios’ moonsault,
the match totally went in favor of the champ.
We join the match at the 12 min mark.
