Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #021

Hello fans and welcome back to Mid-Pacific Promotions.  We had a lot going on over the last week and an announcement has just been released from our owners.   It seems that after our PPV ‘The Cutting Edge’ on 8/5, MPP will be taking a 2 week hiatus.  There have been some behind the scenes stuff happening and the owners want time to get this all figured out.

CM Punk is backstage and he asks about the tournament happening later tonight.  Reggie Parks tells him that he has his hands full right now with John Cena and now is not the time to have him back in this tournament.  Punk is not happy.  Reggie says someone else won’t be happy either.

We kick off today’s show with the first match in round one to see who goes on to meet the SPW World Champion when he comes to Mid-Pacific Promotions.  First, AJ Styles comes out to a huge pop from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and his music is cut off.  Next, ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ plays and out comes the Macho Man Randy Savage accompanied by Miss Elizabeth.  Both of them are booed pretty heavily and it was Miss Elizabeth who actually SPIT on a fan.  That got everyone more riled up.

Miss Elizabeth got involved early after she pushed AJ off from the top turnbuckle.  The fans practically rioted.  AJ started to make a comeback and caught Savage off guard with a superkick.  Miss Elizabeth got up on the apron and distracted the ref giving Savage a chance to recover.  Savage then hurled AJ out of the ring and followed him out.  He threw AJ into the crowd and then bodyslammed him on some chairs.  Savage rushed back to the ring to beat the 10 count and he advances.  (4 ½ min)

Our next match starts off with the Berserker in the ring.  Next, Captain Charisma Christian comes out and he gets a mixed reaction from the crowd.  The Berserker but up a heck of a fight and made Christian work for it.  About 15 minutes in, Pacific Heritage Champion Edge comes out and Christian gets flustered.  Berserker then goes to work on him with Edge sitting at commentary cheering him on.  The ref ends up taking a bump and goes down.  Christian grabs a chair and hits a One Man Conchairto on the Berserker.  Edge gets up from ringside and slides under the ropes behind Christian.  Christian turns around and Edge nails him with a spear.  Edge goes and wakes up Berserker and the ref.  Berserker recovers and hits Christian with a Brainbuster.  Berserker makes the cover and gets the 1-2-3.  Edge leaves laughing as Berserker runs around the ring going “Hep…Hep”.  Christian recovers and leaves and has a very evil look on his face.  (25 min)

It’s time for our next match.  First, music hits and out rushes the Ultimate Warrior.  He gets on the ring and starts shaking the ropes like a madman.  Next, the Pacific Heavyweight Champion Don Muraco w/ Mr Fuji makes his way out.  Muraco takes his time getting in the ring as he thinks Warrior has more than a few screws loose.  Finally, he gets in and Muraco gets right into his face telling him that HE will be meeting the SPW World Champ and NOT some painted up psychotic.  Warrior begins with a press and slam and Muraco rolls out of the ring to gather his thoughts.  A few minutes go by and Mr. Fuji tries to get involved and gets blasted the hard way by Warrior.  Muraco seemed lost without his manager and Ultimate Warrior took full advantage of it.  Warrior dropped Muraco with clotheslines and then hit another press and slam.  This time he followed it up with the Warrior Splash.  He made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  Ultimate Warrior gets the win and advances.  He pounds on his chest and then runs to the back.  (9 min)

Pacific Heritage Champion Edge is backstage and he’s told by Dave Millican that he doesn’t get to participate in the World title tournament because he has a commitment to defend his title tonight.  Edge is not happy about it and asks who he’s wrestling.  Dave tells him it’s Umaga.  Edge doesn’t seem worried.

It’s time for our finals to see who gets the opportunity to advance.  First, ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ plays once again and Savage and Miss Elizabeth make their way out.  He doesn’t get much chance to do anything as Ultimate Warrior rushes out.  Savage and Miss Elizabeth bail out of the ring.  Warrior seems a bit winded but otherwise ok.  Randy Parks makes his way out and tells us this match will be a no time limit match and also is no DQ/CO.  For both men, it was close through most of the match but not until Savage got tossed out of the ring did things really take off for Warrior.  He hit multiple splashes (with Randy lying both on his back and then on his stomach).  Savage winced in pain as he climbed to the top rope.  Warrior got right over there and bodyslammed him from up high.  Savage was hurting as he struggled to his feet.  Warrior then locked in a bearhug and wouldn’t let go.  Savage, in immense pain, had no choice but to tap out.  Ultimate Warrior drops him like a rag doll and climbs the turnbuckle to pose and celebrate.  He doesn’t rush out of the ring this time but takes his time and high fives the fans as he heads backstage.  (19 min)

Sensational Sherri is backstage with Umaga and tells the world (and Edge) that he has never faced a threat like Umaga before.  She says he’s the most dangerous and unpredictable monster anywhere in the world of professional wrestling and tonight, Gold is coming home with her.  Umaga spouts some gibberish and then they leave.

It is announced that SPW Cruiserweight and MPP Light Heavyweight Champion Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger defeated Killer Kahn to win the IWA North American title.  IWA’s Freddie Blassie was already demanding a rematch for his man.  In a written statement provided to MPP and SPWA, the 3 belt champion (SPW Crusierweight, MPP Light Heavyweight and IWA North American) said that he thought Kahn was good but not great.  If Kahn and Blassie are willing to fly across the ocean, they can find him at home in MPP when he’s not out on SPW tour.  He knows that he has future title matches in both WWC and WWF but promises to give Kahn his rematch on his home turf.

It is time for the main event.  30 min time limit.  First, Sensational Sherri comes out and introduces Umaga.  Both are booed as they head down to the ring.  Next, we hear “You think you know me” and out comes the Pacific Heritage Champion Edge to a loud pop from the crowd.  He rushes down and slides in the ring only to be attacked by Umaga.  Edge held on for dear life as Umaga thrashed him around for the first 15 minutes of the match.  After that, Christian came down and grabbed a chair.  Sherri distracted the ref while Umaga held Edge.  Christian went to swing the chair but Edge moved and Christian blasted Umaga with it instead.  Only…it didn’t faze him.  Umaga screamed more gibberish and then hit Christian with a running clothesline.  After Christian was removed from the ring, Edge nailed Umaga with a spear and he went for the cover only to get a 1 count.  Edge turned up the heat and took it to the monster.  Finally, tired of hearing Sherri scream and wail, Edge found some tape and put it over her mouth and then tied her hands behind her and picked her up and put her in a vacant seat at ringside (I guess you get up to go to the bathroom/concession stand, you lose your seat).  Edge then hit Umaga with a vertical suplex and he made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  Edge gets the win and retains his belt.  Christian runs back out and hits Edge from behind with a chair.   He hits the One Man Con-chair-to and stands over Edge holding the belt as the show comes to an end.

Thanks for reading.  Be sure to come back next week as we prepare for our PPV.
