Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #020 (7/15)
Sorry for the delay in posting. Been a very busy week. Show took place on 7/15.
Hello
fans and welcome back to the latest installment of the Mid-Pacific Promotions
Newsletter…MPP is a proud member of the SPW Alliance and invites all fans to
check them out online for only $9.95 a month.
It’s a steal when you get the ability to see wrestling from 8 great
territories. Become a subscriber now.
Today’s
show begins not with a match but with boasting.
Bullet Club member Gino Hernandez comes out and is booed all the way to
the ring. Gino takes a mic and begins
bragging about how he and only he was invited (from MPP) to be a member of the
Western States Heritage tournament in Texas.
Gino says he’s already in the ring so if they want to send out a schmuck
to get his ass beat, he may just as well do it right now.
Lance
Cade makes his way out and the fans pop for him which drives Gino crazy. Cade gets in the ring only to have Gino
attack him. Gino practically threw
everything (including the kitchen sink) at Cade and he stood his ground not
giving an inch. Gino kept getting more
and more frustrated calling the ref incompetent. Just as the time limit was about to expire,
Gino gave Lance a kick to the gut thinking that was going to do it but Lance
nailed a diving clothesline just as the time limit expired. The match ends in a draw and Lance Cade went
toe to toe with one of MPP’s best and survived.
Gino tried to attack him after the bell but Cade bailed pointing to his
head that he outsmarted Gino. Gino tells the fans that if he doesn’t start
getting the respect he deserves, he may just stay in Texas. The fans start a “Get Out” chant and Gino
makes an obscene gesture(s) before leaving. (20 min draw)
Backstage,
Pacific Heavyweight Champion Don Muraco talks about how he’s heard of a
“magazine” that ranks the top wrestlers in all of SPWA. He said he looked at where he was on the list
and couldn’t believe it. He asks who’s
payroll the writer(s) are on and said it is clear who the #1 person is…not
Verne Gagne; not Bret Hart; not Ric Flair…ME.
The fans throw some serious heat at him and he’s not able to continue so
he leaves.
CM
Punk comes out to a pop from the crowd and he grabs a chair and sits down with
a mic in hand. “Now, you may expect me
to go on a rant or to hold the show hostage but that is not my intention. You see, John Cena has been running around
crying like a 2 year old going through the terrible two’s. For those of you who have followed me for my
career, you know that I am what I claim to be.
Straight Edge. Cena, you really
want me in the ring and want a piece of me, what is it you say ‘COME GET
SOME’. Ha.” Punk hands off the mic and chair and awaits
his opponent. Mad Dog Boyd comes out for
some singles action. Punk controlled the
entire match but I think it was more of an exercise than an attempt to
win. (He let?) Mad Dog take him to the
limit ending this one in a time limit draw.
Cena of course came out attacking Punk and the two had to be separated
by an influx of refs and shirts from the back.
Punk didn’t let up and continued to go after Cena. Cena actually got out of the ring and was
joined by Sensational Sherri and the two walked backwards up the ramp. Punk and Cena glared daggers at each
other. (20 min draw)
SPWA
US Champion Bray Wyatt has a taped interview and he says he had a successful
title defense in Stampede and looks forward to his next defense in WWC.
King
Damien Sandow says he’s the one and true King and this imposter King Curtis
Iaukea is infringing on his copyright.
He challenges Iaukea to a match. King
Curtis makes his way out telling Sandow he is a wannabe King and that HE is the
one true King of the Pacific. Sandow tells
him to put his crown (claim) on the line and the winner of the match gets to
keep the moniker. Iaukea agrees. Iaukea started off with a Hades Spinebreaker
but after that, it was all Sandow.
Iaukea faltered the rest of the match (one other offensive move) and
Sandow was able to finish him off with a backbreaker in 9 minutes (89 to
33). Sandow is now the ONLY King in the
Pacific. Sandow then issues a challenge
to any other ‘imposter’ in SPW calling themselves King to fly over the ocean
and meet him in MPP.
Mr.
Fuji is backstage with the Tag Team Champions Yokozuna and Samoa Joe. Joe looks at the camera and tells him that he’s
taken on Beasts of all shapes and sizes and he knows how to play the game in
HIS yard. Joe warns anyone trying to
take their belts that a world of pain awaits them if they try. Yokozuna stood there looking menacing and
Fuji just laughed as they walked off.
It’s
time for our main event. Knuckles Nelson
and Paul LeDuc are in the ring waiting for their opponents to come out. Yokozuna, Samoa Joe and Mr. Fuji all head to
the ring with the Tag belts raised high over the champ’s heads. Joe wastes no time and attacks LeDuc to start
this best of 3 falls; 60 min time limit match off. Even though Joe was on fire, LeDuc was no
slouch and after Knuckles knocked Yokozuna off the apron (no small feat), Paul
locked Joe in a Boston Crab and Joe tapped out!
HOLY CRAP! 2 min in and we have
our first submission. Yokozuna came in
for the next fall starting against Nelson. The next fall went a little longer and this
time the champs came out victorious after Yokozuna squashed Nelson with a
Bonzai drop at the 23 min mark. Now, it’s
down to the final fall with 35 min remaining.
Joe started off against Knuckles and the wild and crazy Samoa just tore
him a new one. Mr. Fuji was quick to
point a few things out but it was Joe hitting Nelson with a Folding Powerbomb
Boston Crab that did it. Joe and
Yokozuna win the 3rd and deciding fall in 8 dominating minutes. Joe and Yoko hold their belts up and Joe
looks at the camera and tells the SPW Tag Team Champs that they are here
waiting.
That’s
all for now. We resume our normal
schedule on Saturday. Thanks for
reading. More to come.
