Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #016 (6/24) (includes Cruiserweight match)

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  Well, King of the Ring will be tomorrow but first, we have to get through the final two qualifying matches to see who will be going to represent Mid-Pacific Promotions.   John Cena w/ Sensational Sherri will be taking on one member of the Bullet Club Damien Sandow and our second Bullet Club member Gino Hernandez will be taking on Sherri’s other charge Umaga.  Also on the card, Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior meet again and this time, it will be a 60 minute Iron Man Match.  The person with the most pinfalls or submissions within 60 minutes wins the match.  Finally, our main event of  the evening will be SPW Crusiserweight Champion the Dynamite Kid taking on MPP Light Heavyweight champion Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger in a 60 minute/one-fall match. 

Match #1:  KotR Qualifier:  John Cena vs Damien Sandow.

Before the match could begin, Sensational Sherri had words with the ref and was all smiles when it was over.  Cena was extremely over-confident and that was reflected when Sandow took the match to him.  Sherri pulled John out of the ring multiple times to try to get his head on straight but Sandow continued the fight even chasing Sherri away a few times.  At one point, Sherri pulled Sandow’s hair to get him off of John and that brought out Finn Balor who ended up chasing Sherri from the ring.  With Sherri gone, Damien continued the fight.

Backstage, the MPP World Champion Don Muraco is with Mr. Fuji.  Muraco says that Crash Holly for some odd reason, holds him responsible for not being in the Light Heavyweight tournament.  Muraco says he can’t understand why and then starts to laugh.  Mike Adamle says that once Crash returns, he will want another shot at Muraco.  Muraco stares at the camera and tells Crash that if he does this, he better make sure his life insurance is up to date as there will be no turning back from this.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  Sensational Sherri comes out with Umaga and he is looking to be in a foul mood.  Next, Bullet Club member Gino Hernandez comes out and he stops on the ramp.  He motions to the back and Finn Balor, AJ Styles and Damien Sandow all come out ready to back Gino up.   Umaga motions for Gino to join him in the ring and Gino obliges.

Umaga starts off hitting Gino with a Samoan Spike.  Gino would attempt to battle back but Umaga (with Sherri’s guidance aka interference) kept Gino fighting for his life.

Umaga rolled OC.

Gino Hernandez rolled OC.

Sensational Sherri executes a Barefoot kicks to fallen foe....

After this happened, AJ picked up Sherri (kicking and screaming) and took her from the ring.  Finn and Sandow followed.

Gino Hernandez wins the match and also goes on to represent MPP at King of the Ring.

Backstage, Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage is with Miss Elizabeth and he states that he and the Ultimate Warrior have had some battles and each of them have wins over the other but they’ve never done an Iron Man Match.  Savage says that he has the stamina to take it to 60 minutes and he will be victorious.  “Ohhhh Yeahhhhhh”.

Also backstage with Mike Adamle is the Ultimate Warrior.  Warrior says:  “(snarl)…Macho Man…know that Parts Unknown have fed me the power of the Universe and that power will break you down as I transgress to the Heavens taking with me the power of all the Warriors.  There’s something in the air of combat as my WARRIORS take control of PARTS UNKNOWN and descend from the skies to full the ULTIMATE DESTINY!  (SNARRLLLLLLLLL)”

It’s time for the Iron match to begin.  ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ plays through the speakers and being led to the ring by Miss Elizabeth is ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage.   Savage poses on the turnbuckles until music hits and rushing to the ring is the Ultimate Warrior.  Warrior shakes the ropes and beats on his chest trying to intimidate Savage.  It does not seem to work.

The two men slugged it out for 34 minutes with Warrior holding the advantage of Savage.  Miss Elizabeth was mostly a non-factor in this match.  After picking Savage up not once, not twice but three times and dropping him face first to the mat did Savage seem to stay down.  UW picked him up and locked in a full nelson and then once again slammed him to the mat.  Warrior made the cover and got the 3 count. 

The next fall went 17 minutes and UW got another fall after hitting Savage with another full nelson (and slam).  Once the third fall began, it appeared that Savage had run out of gas and (surprisingly) the Ultimate Warrior, feeding on the energy given to him by his Warriors, demolished Savage until the bell rang bringing the match to an end.  Ultimate Warrior wins 2 falls to 0 against Savage and this one is over.  Warrior celebrated by climbing the turnbuckles, pounding his chest and raising his arms into the air.  He was preoccupied and did not see Randy sneak out of the ring, grab a chair, slide back in and threaten to use it on Warrior.  Miss Elizabeth pleaded with him to let it go.  She took the chair from Savage and then turned and hit Ultimate Warrior with it.  Warrior fell into the ring writhing in pain.  She hit him with the chair again and again.  Savage was astonished.  She told him to go up and he climbed the turnbuckle, launching and connecting with the flying elbow.  Savage did this three times.  After the beatdown, Savage raised Miss Elizabeth’s arm in the air and the two of them left as the fans loudly voiced their displeasure.  Savage flipped the fans off.

As we get ready for our main event, SPW Cruiserweight Champion the Dynamite Kid is backstage with Mike Adamle.  Mike states “Dynamite Kid, you are the SPW Cruiserweight Champion defending the title all over the mainland and now here in Hawaii.  We welcome you.”  Dynamite Kid replies “Thank you Mike.  I love my homeland but getting out here to Hawaii is pretty nice too.  I’ve wrestled people from all over the world and now, I get to showcase my talents here too.  My opponent Jushin Liger is a fantastic wrestler but he has not met someone of my caliber.  I can promise the fans of MPP and those all over the world watching SPW wrestling that the greatest cruiserweight leaves with the belt tonight.” 

It’s time for our main event.  First, the fans pop as the Mid-Pacific Promotions Light Heavyweight Champion Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger (LotR) makes his way out.  Once in the ring, music changes and the SPW Cruiserweight Champion the Dynamite Kid (GA) makes his way to the ring also getting a pop from the crowd.  The two men shake hands as the bell rings kicking this one off (60 min time limit, strategy pin chart, one fall).

Referee is 'Honest' Abe (+0)

Jushin Liger is now the NEW SPW Cruiserweight Champion.  A disappointed Dynamite Kid takes the title from the ref and hands it to the new champion.  He tells Liger that they'll meet again.  Liger holds both his titles over his head as the show comes to an end.
