Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #013
Hello
fans and welcome back to our Mid-Pacific Promotions newsletter. Well, today we start off with the
announcement that there is unfortunately no way Crash Holly will be able to
participate in today’s Light Heavyweight tournament so he will be replaced by
the man who lost the 8th spot – Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger. Dave Millican also announced that he will
actually allow the person who wins the LH title will actually be the one who
takes on the SPW Cruiserweight Champion arrives here at the end of June (24th).
Reggie
Parks then joins him and says that the SPW US title will be coming to
Mid-Pacific Promotions at our next show.
Newly crowned champion Nikolai Volkoff (IWA) will have his hands full
when he takes on the winner of a Fatal Four way tonight. Four names were drawn at random and those 4
competing for that chance will be the ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ John Cena, ‘the
Handsome half-breed’ Gino Hernandez, Muhammed Hassan and the ‘Eater of Worlds’
Bray Wyatt. We expect that match to
bring out the best and that person gets a shot to represent MPP on a global
scale.
We
start off with our first match to crown a Light Heavyweight Champion. Each match will be given a 30 minute time
limit to ensure only the best make it to the end. Brian ‘Spanky’ Kendrick comes out first and
is booed by the crowd. His opponent is
announced and it is Bullet Club member Finn Balor. Balor comes out to a huge pop from the crowd. After posing on the turnbuckles briefly, he
turns his attention to Spanky. This one
was surprisingly technical with Balor controlling the pace of the match. Kendrick was able to hit the Sliced Bread #2
but Balor kicked out at 2. A few minutes
later, Finn locked Spanky up with a High Angle Fujiwara armbar. Kendrick held on as long as he could but
eventually tapped out. Finn Balor gets
the win and advances. (11 min – BK - 43
to 58- FB)
Mike
Adamle is backstage with John Cena and his manager Sensational Sherri. John says Thuganomics rule the world and so
will he once he beats these ‘posers’ and then unseats that brutish Russian
Volkoff. With Sherri by his side, he
guarantees a win tonight. Mike tells him
that in a fatal four way, Sherri will not be allowed at ringside. She began screaming and John said “We’ll see
about that” and he and Sherri stormed off.
Match
#2: We head back to the ring for our
next match. Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger comes
out first and receives a good solid pop from the crowd. Next, his opponent Essa Rios comes out to
less fanfare. Liger wasted no time in
getting this one moving. Essa caught
Liger with a moonsault early on but after that, it was all Liger. Liger ended up hitting multiple snap
suplexes before finally making the cover and getting the 3 count allowing him
to move on in the tournament. (13 min –
ER – 56 to 89- JL)
Gino
Hernandez is backstage and congratulated Balor for moving on. Gino says the his three other competitors
cannot hold a candle to him and once he wins the SPW US title, he will get the
respect from the locker room AND the fans will have to acknowledge his
greatness.
Match
#3: The returning Ultimo Dragon comes
out first to a pop from the crowd. It
was unfortunate he got cut before but now he’s back and hungry for action. His opponent comes out and it is A-Team
member Adrian Neville. Neville
controlled the first two minutes of the match but then Ultimo Dragon EXPLODED
and Neville had no way to combat the speed of the Ultimo Dragon. Neville got in a few good shots in the
longest match so far of the night but Dragon stayed one step ahead and after
catching Neville with a Japanese armdrag, he made the cover and got the 3
count. After the match, Neville tried to
complain about hair pulling but the ref ignored him. (24 min – AN – 122 to 132
– UD)
Muhammed
Hassan is backstage and he says that his rise to success begins tonight and he
will be the one to unseat the Russian and bring the US title back where it
belongs.
Match
#4: The final match of the first round
and Zema Ion comes out first to a pop from the crowd. Next, the leader of the A-Team Austin Aries
comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.
In another fast paced match, Aries taught Zema a thing or two getting a
near fall early with a discus elbow smash.
Aries would get thrown out of the ring and he barely beat the count getting
back in. Aries throws Zema to the ropes
and hits a sidewalk slam in the middle of the ring. Aries makes the cover and gets the win. Austin Aries moves on. (11 min – AA – 60 to 45 – ZI)
Back
in his office, Dave Millican randomly draws names to see who will meet
who. He draws Finn Balor vs Ultimo
Dragon leaving Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger to take on Austin Aries. These are all great match ups and are
expected to be just as entertaining. The
final two will meet next show to crown a new champion.
Match
#5: Finn Balor and Ultimo Dragon both
make their way out to the ring and both are well received by the fans. This one was just insane. Remember when we said earlier that Ultimo
Dragon wanted this? He proved that in
this match out wrestling Balor to the point where it was almost embarrassing
(17 to 93). Ultimo Dragon gets the win
in 10 minutes after knocking Balor out with a brainbuster.
The
final participant in the fatal four way – Bray Wyatt – gets his chance to
talk. He is all cryptic talking about
buzzards pecking out Volkoff’s eyes and feasting on the innards of Freddie
Blassie but he will be the one to defeat the Russian and proudly wear the US
title for MPP.
Match
#6: this is the last of our
qualifiers. Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger and
Austin Aries both come out and both receive respectful applause from the
fans. After about 4 minutes, Aries began
to out wrestle Liger and the Japanese sensation almost got pinned a few
times. Aries connected once with a 450
splash but had taken too long to make the cover allowing Liger to recover. 14 minutes in, Aries went for a Heat seeking
missile dive to the outside, missed, and landed hard on his leg. He took till the count of 9 to get back in
the ring. Liger immediately locked in a
leglock and with the damage to Aries’ leg, he had no choice but to tap
out. Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger advances and
he will take on Ultimo Dragon and one of them will be crowned the new Light
Heavyweight Champion who also receives a shot as the SPW Crusierweight
Champion. (15 min – JL – 88 to 97 – AA)
After
that bout and a brief intermission, ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ plays through the
loudspeakers and out comes the Macho Man Randy Savage accompanied by his
manager Miss Elizabeth. Savage gets a
huge pop from the crowd. Savage gets on
the mic and calls out the Ultimate Warrior.
It doesn’t take long before UW rushes the ring and joins Savage
there. Savage speaks about the history
between the two and says there is unfinished business between the two. Savage states that he came to MPP to put to
a rest who is the better between them.
Savage says that in two weeks, he wants the Warrior in the ring. UW accepts with a nod of his head and beating
of his chest. Savage puts his hand out
and UW shakes it. Both men eventually
leave.
It’s
time for our main event. The
participants make their way down to the ring individually and no one was really
accepted by the fans. In fact, we were
all wondering why there wasn’t a ‘face’ in this matchup. This one went on for 22 ½ minutes and John
Cena was DESTROYING everyone (117 to 84 (GH) to 53 (MH) to 54 (BW) and no one
could stop him. We join the match now at
the 18 minute mark.
