Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #010

Hello fans and welcome back to another episode of Mid-Pacific Promotions.  Lots of stuff has transpired over the last couple of weeks.  MPP hosted SPW World Champion Verne Gagne who walked out with his title intact after the massacre against CM Punk.  Also, last week saw the Rock leave and head to his new home in the WWF.  We wish him all the best there and the door will always be open if he ever decides to come back.  Tonight’s show will be highlighted by a tag team match to crown all new tag team champions. 

We start off with a bit of a jaw dropping announcement.  The Grand Wizard comes out with John Cena and Muhammed Hassan and announces that the trips between MPP and IWA are starting to take their toll on him so he announces that he’s selling the contracts of John Cena and Muhammed Hassan in order to stick closer to home.  GW talked with Cena and Hassan at length and discussed who could replace him (nah, he can’t be replaced – everyone laughed).  Hassan thanks GW for his managerial expertise but he’s going to go solo.  Hassan leaves.  The Grand Wizard then introduces Sensational Sherri as his replacement.  Sherri says she wants to create a stable of her own and says Cena is the man to build it around.  She says the Bullet Club can go play in the corner and stay out of her way.  She promises to bring championships to her team.

We’re ready for the first match of the night.  ‘The Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels comes out first.  There is confusion backstage when no one appears.  All of a sudden, the lights begin to flicker in an almost strobe-like effect.  After a plume of smoke clears on stage, standing there is the ‘Eater of Souls’ Bray Wyatt.  Wyatt is not a member of the roster.  What is he doing here?  Bray calls out the management and says he wants to call MPP his home and wants a spot on the roster.  Dave Millican comes out and tells Bray that he can try out right now against Christopher Daniels.  However, there is no room on the roster so he tells Daniels that if he wins, he retains his spot and will be given a shot at World Champion Don Muraco.  If Bray wins, Bray is on the roster and Daniels is out.  This one was a close match with both men getting near falls.  Early on, Bray went for Sister Abigail but Daniels reversed it and hit the Angel’s wings but only got a 1 count.  After that, Bray kicked it into high gear and just seemed to want this more than Daniels did.  At the 17 minute mark, Bray caught Daniels coming off the ropes with a standing side slam but Daniels was too close to the ropes and broke the count after 1.  Daniels hit a Death Valley Driver and an exploder suplex but didn’t have enough in the gas tank to make the cover.  Bray hit Daniels with a Running Senton and rolled him up and got the 3 count.  Bray Wyatt is now a member of the MPP roster and unfortunately, Christopher Daniels is out.  Wyatt laughed as Daniels made his way up the ramp and out through the curtains. 

Backstage, Dean Malenko demands a rematch against Don Muraco.  Owner Reggie Parks tells him that if he pushes this now and loses, he’s out of MPP.  Dean says it’s worth the risk.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  ‘Sick Boy’ Scott Vick comes out first.  Next, lights and pyro goes off.  Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger comes out next to a huge pop from the crowd.  In what was a huge surprise to the crowd, Vick went toe to toe with Liger and the match was about as close as it could get. 

Vick reversed a piledriver attempt and nailed Liger with a bodyslam and a pin attempt but Liger kicked out.  The final minute of the match had everyone on the edges of their seats.

Liger wins much to the delight of the crowd.  He poses for a few moments before leaving.

Back in his office, Reggie Parks announces that our main event tonight will be between the Ascension and Yokozuna/Samoa Joe to crown new Mid-Pacific Promotions Tag Team Champions. 

Match #3 is ready to begin.  Billy Pearl is already in the ring.  ‘Word Life’ begins to play through the speakers and the Dr. of Thuganomics John Cena comes out with his new manager Sensational Sherri.  Sherri imparts John with some words of advice and then he gets into the ring.  John starts of by beating the tar out of Pearl.  About 5 minutes in, Sherri decides to get involved and goes to hit Billy with a barefoot kick to the face but he REVERSED it and Sherri got out of there and Pearl dropped Cena with a lariat.  Pearl then soaks in the applause from the crowd only to turn around and get caught with the F.U.  Cena makes the cover and gets the easy 3 count.  John Cena is victorious.  A furious Sensational Sherri gets in the ring and kicks Pearl in the face with her bare foot.  She raises Cena’s arm and they both leave.

Mike Adamle comes to the ring and says he’s here to introduce the newest member to the Mid-Pacific Promotions family.  ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ plays and out comes the Macho Man Randy Savage accompanied by Miss Elizabeth.  The fans pop HUGE for this icon.   Savage gets in the ring and climbs the turnbuckle posing.  Miss Elizabeth joins him. 

Mike Adamle:  Macho Man, welcome to Mid-Pacific Promotions!

Randy Savage:  OHHHHH YEAHHHHHH.  Can you dig it?  The Macho Man is here in Mid-Pacific Promotions and I’m here for one reason only.  Back during our WWF days, one man and I didn’t seem to put everything to rest…yeah….Me and the Ultimate Warrior have unfinished business.

MA:  So Randy, you’re here to call out the Ultimate Warrior?

RS:  The Macho Man goes where the top talent is and I acknowledge they are here.  The Macho Man wants nothing more than to sink his teeth into the top dog and I will do that once things are settled between me and Warrior.

MA:  With Miss Elizabeth at your side, the skies the limit.

RA:  Miss Elizibit and the Machooo Man will take the world by storm and it all begins here.

MA:  Thank you Macho Man…Miss Elizabeth…Now we go back to the action.

It’s time for our rematch for the World title.  The challenger Dean Malenko comes out first to a pop from the crowd.  He shows no emotion.  Next, the MPP World Champion Don Muraco and his manager Mr. Fuji make their way out amid the disgust being hurled at them by the fans.  Muraco calls out Reggie Parks and says that if he has to capitulate in giving Dean his rematch right now, he wants this to be a no DQ/CO match.  Reggie makes it so.  Muraco toyed with Dean but the challenger took this seriously and outwrestled the champ.  4 minutes in and Malenko hits the champ with a top rope gutbuster.  He went for the cover but Don kicked out at 2.  Mr. Fuji then tried to throw salt in Dean’s eyes but Dean was prepared and it had no effect.  Don hit a frontal plex and Dean locked in the figure four but Don would not quit.  11 minutes in, Don tried for the dedicated piledriver but Dean was able to weasel out of it.  We join the match at the 15 minute mark.

All of a sudden, in from the crowd came…hang on…it’s…UMAGA!  Umaga attacks Dean hitting him with a Samoan drop, a corner butt splash and a Samoan Spike.  The ref gets Umaga out of the ring.  Dean struggled to his feet.

Don Muraco wins the match and retains his title.  Dean Malenko is now out of MPP.  Suits from the back come out and help him from the ring.  Mr. Fuji then presents Umaga with a wad of cash.  Umaga looks at it funny but then out comes Sensational Sherri.  Sherri gets in the ring and Umaga hands her the cash.  It looks like Umaga will also be managed by the Sensational One.  Sherri leaves with Umaga and Muraco and Fuji follow.

A video airs showing clips from the tag team tournament that leads up to our main event.  The top two teams are the Ascension (who would have thought?) and Mr. Fuji’s own Samoa Joe and Yokozuna.  These two team will be squaring off NOW to determine our new MPP Tag Team Champions.

The main event kicks off with another pyro explosion as the Ascension come out first and are booed (no surprise there).  Next, Mr. Fuji returns with Samoa Joe and Yokozuna.

The winners of the match and the NEW Mid-Pacific Promotions Tag Team Champions – Samoa Joe and Yokozuna.  Joe and Yokozuna celebrated with Mr. Fuji in the ring as the show came to an end.
