Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #009

Hello fans and welcome back to another episode of SPWA’s Mid-Pacific Promotions.  Well, we got ourselves quite a bit of news.  First and foremost, the Jim Crockett Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament took place this week.  MPP chose to send the Ascension and the team of Samoa Joe and Yokozuna to represent us.  Joe and Yokozuna defeated the team of Blackjack Lanza and Blackjack Mulligan in the first round.  In the next, they lost via countout decision to the LOD after Animal hit Yokozuna with a powerslam on the concrete floor.  After the match, Joe said he hopes that the LOD become the SPW tag team champs so they can come to MPP and Joe and Yokozuna will finish what was started.

The Ascension were not as lucky as they went up against the team of the Rockers – Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels.  The Rockers used their speed and were too much for Vikor and Konnor.  Viktor tried to complain that Marty had a handful of tights when he executed the inside cradle but the ref said it was legit and the Ascension stormed out.  We believe that they left before being confronted once again by the Road Warriors (we remember how that fared out).

Over the last few weeks, there have been altercations taking place between Samoa Joe and the Rock.  It’s gotten to the point where these two cannot even be in the same building anymore.  Reggie Parks placed calls to other owners within the SPW Alliance to see if someone would be willing to take one of them on.  The WWF’s own Vince McMahon took the call and agreed to take one based on one final match between the two.  Vince said that he would take one in exchange for a future consideration.  Reggie agreed.  So our main event tonight will be the last one for either Samoa Joe or the Rock.

The tag team tournament continued with the final four teams fighting for that coveted championship.

The first match of the night is the team of Samoa Joe and Yokozuna taking on the A-Team (Austin Aries and Antonio Cesaro).  With Joe in the main event and in this qualifier, he had to pull double duty.   Joe and Aries started off and Yokozuna came in a few min later.  Aries somehow managed to hit a discus elbow smash and if Joe hadn’t made the save, it would have all been over.  Joe saw more in ring action than he probably expected but once Yokozuna was refreshed, it was all him.  In the final moments of the match, Yokozuna hits Aries with a headbutt with such force that he flew in the air all the way to his corner.  Cesaro tags in only to eat a huge chop from Yokozuna.  Yokozuna made the cover and with all his weight on Antonio, he could not kick out.  Yokozuna and Samoa Joe move on to the finals.  (20 min)

Backstage, John Cena addresses the arrival of CM Punk.  “I don’t care about any dead man walkin'...I don’t care about stylin’ and profilin’ or ‘snapping’ into anything and I sure as hell don’t care about taking my vitamins.  MPP is MY yard and Punk, you want to go through anyone to get to the top, you go through me.  You know, if that was me against Verne, I could have taken him and I’m older than you.”

The next match up is Muhammed Hassan vs Mike Sanders.  “Above Average” comes out first and gets a decent pop from the crowd.  Next, the Grand Wizard comes out and introduces Muhammed Hassan.  The Grand Wizard tells Hassan everything he needs to know and Hassan put it all to good use.  Hassan controlled the tempo of the match and when GW thought it was time, he told Hassan to finish it.  Hassan connected with a reverse neckbreaker and that was it for Sanders.  Hassan gets the win in 7 min.  He and the Grand Wizard then leave.

The Ascension are backstage with Mike Adamle and they say that their next opponents are old has-beens in Tanaka and Tsurtura. Viktor says “Tonight we feast and with a buffet like that, we’ll never go hungry!  Haha”  Konnor adds in  “You know who else is old and washed up?  The Funks. Do you know what the Funks have in common with hockey players?  Neither of them have their original teeth! HAHA.”   Mike asks them if they learned their lesson against the Road Warriors and Konnor and Viktor shut up and storm out.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  Firebreaker Chip is already in the ring waiting for his opponent.  Music hits and the Demon King Finn Balor makes his way out.  Balor gets a huge reaction from the crowd.   The bell rings instantly and the two go right at it and astonishingly Chip is going toe to toe with Balor.  Balor decided he’d had enough and 3 min in, locked in the High Angle Fujiwara armbar and Chip tapped right out.  Finn gets the win and then asks for a microphone.

“It takes someone with great a great mind and skill to be able to read how the winds are changing and they are changing here in MPP.  I pride myself on being able to read those signs and feel that we need to be properly prepared.  In other territories, you see unholy alliances, stables and groups forming.  I for one don’t need those but I could always use a CLUB!  You heard me correctly.  Officially I am reforming the Bullet Club HERE in Honolulu, HI.”  The fans pop.  “Now you may want to know who I’ve asked to join this little club so I will introduce them one by one.  First, my tag team partner Damien Sandow!”  Sandow comes down and joins Balor in the ring and they shake hands.  “Next, you all know him as the PHENOMINAL ONE” AJ Styles!”  Styles comes down and joins them in the ring.  “Finally, my final choice will not sit well with you so you’ll have to trust me I know what I’m doing.  Ladies and Gentlemen…the final member of the Bullet Club…the ‘Handsome Half-breed’ Gino Hernandez!”  Gino comes out and the fans instantly go sour on him.  They are aware of Gino’s antics from his days in WCCW and they don’t trust him.  Gino enters the ring.  Finn continues “I told you you wouldn’t like that but this is the way it needs to be.  MPP, I present the Bullet Club!”  The fans are mixed as they want to cheer for Balor and AJ but can’t accept Gino.  The four of them eventually leave.

We’re ready for our second tag team qualifying match.  First, Konnor and Viktor – The Ascension – make their way down to the booing of the fans.  That changes once Luscious Johnny V leads Professor Toru Tanaka and Jumbo Tsurtura down to the ring.  These guys are more palatable so the fans will cheer them over those LOD rip-offs.  The two teams go right at it but the Ascension overpower them quickly.  Johnny V interfered and Tanaka came close to a pin but didn’t get it.  At the 4 minute mark, Konnor threw Tanaka out of the ring and then he and Viktor hit him with the Fall of Man.  Konnor rolled back in and Tanaka ended up getting counted out.  The Ascension win this one by count out and move on to the finals.

Dave Millican is on the phone with someone.  We couldn’t hear who it was but the phone number was from Stamford.  Dave tells Reggie that the person replacing whoever loses tonight will be here next week.  Reggie asked who it was and Dave said he didn’t know and was told it would be a surprise.

It’s time for our Main Event.   Samoa Joe makes his way down first accompanied by Mr. Fuji.  Joe looks really pissed off.  Over the loudspeakers blares “IF YOU SMELLLLLLLLL…WHAT THE ROCK…IS…COOKIN’” and out comes the People’s Champion the Rock.  Rock makes a beeline right for the ring and takes the mic before entering the ring.

Rock:  Who in the Blue Hell are you?  IT DOESN’T MATTER!  You know, Samoa Joe, you wouldn’t win a contest for the best abs, you’d win it for the most abs.”

The fans pop and Joe forcibly takes the mic from the Rock.

Joe:  “Don’t you find it weird that you and your Father look nothing alike”

That did it and the two men began to slug it out.  Dave Millican comes out and tells them that this match will be a no DQ match as he wants to see a solid winner.

For 12 minutes, these two beat the holy hell out of each other and really took out their frustration out on one another.  We join the match at the 13 min mark.

Thanks for reading.  Stay tuned as things continue to get interesting around here.

Notes
Changed Samoa Joe from (Mowie) to (2016)

Trade Rock to WWF for future consideration to be announced next week.
