Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #005 (4/15)
Hello
fans and welcome back to our newsletter.
As we prepare for today’s show, Reggie Parks makes his way out. He lets us know that Dave Millican is paying
a visit to some of the other SPWA promoters.
Today, he says, will take us from the final four to the final two. He can’t hold back any longer. He lets everyone know that the SPW World
Champion Verne Gagne will be paying a visit to Mid-Pacific Promotions. This tournament will be to see who goes on to
meet whomever that will be.
He
is interrupted as Andre the Giant makes his way out. Andre says he’s calling out Yokozuna. Mr. Fuji comes out instead and tells Andre
that the only way Andre gets him in the ring is in a tag team match. The Rock shows up behind Mr. Fuji and grabs
him by the collar and drags him to the ring.
He presents a contract for Andre & the Rock to take on Samoa Joe and
Yokozuna. Andre threatens bodily harm if
Fuji doesn’t sign for his team. He does
and then takes off as fast as he could.
Reggie says this match will happen later in the show.
Match
#1: John Cena w/ the Grand Wizard vs
Edge. Cena demands that Edge also put
the Heritage title on the line and Edge surprisingly agrees. Edge dominated Cena and even with the
assistance of the Grand Wizard, it wasn’t enough to counter the determination
of Edge. Edge nailed Cena with a spear
but Cena surprisingly kicked out. Cena
knocked Edge into the ref and he went down.
The Ultimate Warrior then rushed down to the ring and after hitting
multiple clotheslines, he picked Cena up and gorilla pressed him and dropped
him face first. He then hit a splash and
then took off after he saw the ref beginning to stir. Cena struggled to his feet only to eat a dropkick
from Edge. Edge makes the cover and gets
the 1-2-3. Edge retains his title and
moves on in the tournament. (20 min)
The
Ascension are once again backstage and this time they are mocking the Andersons,
Hardy’s (says something is ‘broken’ in their minds), the Rockers and finally
settled back on the Legion of Doom the Road Warriors. Viktor claims Hawk is a whack job and Animal
isn’t worthy of carrying their dirty laundry.
Konnor says it’s a good thing that none of those no-talent teams aren’t
here as they’d beat them senseless and send them home with their tails between
their legs.
Match
#2: Cruiserweight match: ‘Above Average’ Mike Sanders makes his way
out first and brushes off the fans criticism of him. Next, pyro goes off as Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger
comes out and the place goes insane.
Sanders fights tooth and nail and goes toe to toe with Liger. Sanders never lands a winning blow as he
can’t stop Liger’s speed. Sanders gets
cocky after connecting with a pump handle suplex but Liger nails him with a
running Liger bomb. Sanders goes for a
pumphandle suplex again but Liger reverses it and nails a snap suplex. Liger makes the cover and gets the win. The fans pop as Liger makes his way to the
back. (19 min)
Backstage,
Mike Adamle is interviewing Mr. Fuji, Samoa Joe and Yokozuna. Fuji is irate for Andre and Rock putting
their hands on him. He says Joe and
Yokozuna will make them regret that.
Match
#3: Don Muraco w/ Mr. Fuji vs the
Ultimate Warrior. Warrior came out and just squashed Muraco in a
very disappointing match. Muraco just
struggled to stay on his feet. John Cena
came out and tried to distract the Warrior but ended up hitting Muraco by
mistake. Warrior hoisted Muraco over his
head and dropped him face first to the mat.
UW makes the cover and gets the 1-2-3.
Ultimate Warrior gets the win and goes on to face Edge to see who will
challenge the SPW Champion once he comes to MPP. (6 min) (score was 70 to 21)
The
Ascension (Konnor & Viktor) are backstage once again and this time they are
dressed like the Road Warriors – wearing the spikes. Konnor says the LOD are posers and even their
costumes are crap. He turns and squeezes
one of the spikes on Viktor’s shoulderpad and it makes a squeaking sound. (Editors note: They better pray the LOD never come to
MPP). Viktor says tonight they get a
rematch against Zema Ion and Lance Cade and they will teach the wrestling world
what domination is.
Match
#4: Bull Pain makes his way out first
and flips off fans as they scream “you suck” at him. Music plays and out comes ‘The Beast’ Dan
Severn. Dan gets a decent pop. Bull Pain tried to make this a brawl but
Severn kept the match clean and plain outwrestled the brawler. After dazing Bull with a fireman’s carry, Dan
nails a german suplex and makes the cover to get the 3 count. Dan Severn is cheered as he leaves the
ring. (9 min)
Andre
the Giant and the Rock are backstage and Rock says that tonight, they make
history when the Most Electrifying man in all of Sports Entertainment and the
Eighth Wonder of the World team up for the first time EVER and MPP will never
be the same. Andre chimes in and says
that tonight Yokozuna and mini-me (referring to Joe) will be finished tonight.
(Rock had to turn his head because he snickered at “mini-me”) Rock ends with “If you
smelllllllllllllll…what the Rock…and the Giant…are cookin’!
Match
#5 is up next and it’s sort of payback time.
The Ascension vs Zema Ion & Lance Cade in a rematch. Ion and Cade come out first and get a
pop. The Ascension come out next and the
booing hurled at them is nuclear. This
one doesn’t go very long as the Ascension just destroy Ion and Cade. Barely 2 minutes in, Ion is taken out of the
ring where Konnor and Viktor nail him with the Psycho Crusher. Ion can’t make it back in the ring so he gets
counted out. The Ascension win this one
via CO and the fans are practically ready to riot. They leave as junk is pelted at them. (2 ½ min)
Pacific
Heritage Champion Edge is backstage and he congratulates Ultimate Warrior for
getting this far but he, the master of the Edge-ucution, he will be the one to
challenge the SPW Champion whomever it may be – Verne Gagne or the next guy, it
doesn’t matter as Edge will be the THE Man.
It’s
time for the final match of the night…our Main Event: Samoa Joe & Yokozuna w/ Mr. Fuji vs Andre
the Giant & the Rock. Joe and
Yokozuna come out first and the fans just start into a ‘mini-me’ chant which
pisses Joe off to no end. Rock’s music
hits and the People’s Champion comes out on stage. He is joined by Andre and they walk to the
ring together. The match is given a 30
minute time limit. Andre stayed in the
ring for most of the match but was joined quite often by the Rock during double
teaming (and there was a lot of that).
Mr. Fuji got tired of the ref not doing anything about the double
teaming so he nailed the referee resulting in a DQ. Samoa Joe continued to beat down on the Rock
while Yokozuna splashed Andre dropping him to the mat. Mr. Fuji finally decided they had enough and
started to leave but Joe wasn’t done. He
kicked Andre out of the ring and then locked Rock in the Coquina Clutch and
yelled “How’s this for mini-me!” The
show ended with Joe looking pretty psychotic.
