Mid-Pacific Promotions Newsletter #002

Hello and welcome back to Mid-Pacific Promotions – a proud member of the SPW Alliance.  We had a small hiccup in that the Grand Wizard was already part of the SPW Alliance’s IWA territory but have come to terms with their promoters to allow him to participate in MPP.  We are also happy to announce that King Curtis Iaukea has completed all his commitments in the Caribbean and will be teaming up with the Tongan Prince - Price Iaukea as they work their way through the tag team division.  We also would like to report that there are additional teams who will be joining the tag team rankings:

The A-Team – Austin Aries, Antonio Cesaro and Adrian Neville who will be enacting the Freebird rule.
The Ascension – Viktor and Konnor
The Bruise Brothers (Mad Dog & Porkchop)
Professor Toru Tanaka & Jumbo Tsuruta
Edge & Christian (Edge will pursue both singles and tag but has made it clear he wants a singles title)

To fill in any gaps enhancement talent will be teamed together to provide interesting combinations and bring out the best in this division.

The show kicks off with an appearance of the A-Team.  Austin Aries, Antonio Cesaro and Adrian Neville make their way out.  Aries says that whenever the A-Team is in tag team action challenging for belts, they will be enacting the ‘Frebird Rule’ where any two of them can wrestle for and defend a belt.  Tonight, Aries says he’s in singles action.

Match #1:  Above Average Mike Sanders vs Austin Aries:  Aries laughs as his opponent comes down to the ring.  Sanders has the last laugh as he kept kicking out of each and every one of Aries’ moves.  Finally, the bell rings bringing this one to a time limit draw.  After the match, Cesaro & Neville joined Aries in beating down Sanders and dumping him out of the ring.  (20 min draw)

Reggie Parks comes out and says he’s not pleased that the A-Team are trying to take over his show so he puts Neville and Cesaro into a match right now in a qualifier for the tag team tournament.

Match #2:  Adrian Neville & Antonio Cesaro vs Outback Jack & Paul LeDuc in a qualifier.  Jack and LeDuc surprised everyone by showing up the A-Team and even out-wrestled them.  Both Neville and Cesaro got injured (slightly) in their match and even after that and an impressive run from the A-Team, they could not keep their opponents down.  Neville manages to hit the Red Arrow in the last few seconds but is a hair too late as the bell rings bringing this one to a draw.  (20 min draw).  After the match, Aries challenges Jack, LeDuc and Sanders to a 6 man match.  Dave Millican came out and explained that Outback Jack was actually rostered to the WWF and he was here working under false pretenses.  Dave asked Outback Jack to leave.  He says that LeDuc and Sanders will have to find a new partner.

The Owners got an urgent message from the SPW Alliance stating that they have one too many people on their roster.  Mid-Pacific Promotions decides to hold a fatal 4 way to see who will be leaving.  Names drawn included Dan Severn, Christopher Daniels, Ultimo Dragon and Ken Shamrock with the loser being dropped from the roster

Match #3:  Fatal Four Way.  Severn, Daniels, Ultimo Dragon and Shamrock all make their way out and they are pretty peeved at having to go through this.  Dave Millican comes out and says this will be a no-time limit match.  All four men fought like their livelihoods depended on this outcome.  The match went 43 ½ min and ended after Dan Severn caught Ultimo Dragon with the STF and got pinned.  Ultimo Dragon is now out.

‘The Magnificent One’ Don Muraco introduces Mr. Fuji as his manager and says that battle royals are not a way to test one’s mettle and starting now, he puts whoever is the Heavyweight champion after tonight on notice that he is coming for that belt.  For now though, he wants someone to beat up.

Match #4:  Don Muraco w/ Mr Fuji vs Lenny Lane.  Lane held his own but that was probably because Muraco was toying with him.  Once we got past the 13 minute mark, Lane actually went after and knocked out Mr. Fuji.  Enraged, Muraco tore Lane apart until Fuji recovered enough to tell him to end it. Muraco gets the win after executing a bearhug and using that to pin Lane.  (17 min)

Mike Adamle is in the ring and introduces the Dr. of Thuganomics John Cena.  Cena comes out and is booed.  Cena flips off the fans as he gets into the ring.  Cena then makes a shocking announcement and introduces his NEW MANAGER – the Grand Wizard.  The Grand Wizard comes out and takes the mic.  “You know, I am the smartest man in all of professional wrestling.  You want to know why?  I took the top merchandiser, the babyface, the kiddies favorite and showed him the TRUTH.  That truth is that John Cena doesn’t need any of you.  He was successful before you self-entitled fans and he’ll succeed after you’re gone.  John, I believe you have something you wanted to say.”

Mike Adamle interjects “John, the fans…how could you turn your back on them?”

Cena takes the mic from him.

“Yo yo save your breath kid
I'm here for one reason
My target’s the Ultimate Warrior
And it's hunting season
Tonight I teach Warrior a lesson Mr. Miagyu did
But he ain't Daniel LaRussa, and this ain't no Karate Kid
Yea, my pants are baggy, because I've been working my ass off
Tonight, I put the wax on a guy who only wax off
I'm more a threat than nuclear fallout
tonight's the night, Parts Unknown gets called out
Word Life”

The Ultimate Warrior RUSHES down to the ring and Cena and the Grand Wizard bail.  UW poses in the ring as the fans pop and Cena backpedals up the ramp never taking his eyes off of him.

It’s time for our main event.  Tonight, one man is crowned as the Heavyweight Champion and the other becomes the Heritage Champ.  First, the man of no emotion Dean Melanko comes out to a decent pop from the crowd.  Next, music plays and out comes Edge to a HUGE POP from the crowd.  Edge rushes the ring and slides under the bottom rope.  He shakes hands with Melanko and this one is ready to go.  Reggie Parks and Dave Millican come out and go sit at ringside.  They have in their possession the titles they will present to the winners.

Referee is 'Honest' Abe (+0)
